Mob vs Strays

I'm doing this match report as a forfeit because we lost... so it will be short and not very positive I'm afraid.

If you ignore their first and third innings, the score would've been 5-1 to the Mob.  In fact it was 17-5 to the Devil Strays.

That's more or less the story of the game... we got off to a sluggish start, couldn't string hits together, and a couple of tough plays didn't go our way in the field leading to two really big innings for them.
The scoreline did flatter the Strays though and on another day, if we'd handled their aggressive base-running better, we'd have restricted them to a lot fewer runs.

We had 4 shut-out innings in the field which is defo positive, and there were good defensive plays... notably by Kendell, Sam, and Mark.  And one comedy/miracle catch by Martin who ran backwards from short-stop deep into the outfield, turning one way and then the next only to turn, and at the right moment, have the ball land in his glove!

Mark hit the only home run for the Mob, Martin went 3 for 3.  But we just couldn't get anything going... without some experienced players in the line-up the base-running and base-coaching suffered.

Still, as bad as our hitting was, it wasn't as bad as the Gigalum bar staff...
