Clapham Comets v Mob at Clapham South (Away)

Perhaps a day to not remember?

I think everyone is in agreement that I keep this match report short and sweet and I think the word I used to describe the game to my boyfriend says it all……we got CREAMED! Sorry MoB!

1-3rd Inning

Unfortunately the grey sky, rain and lightning really set the mood for the mob and we did not get off to a good start and it remained this way for what was left of the game (a whole 4 innings I’m afraid). I think we will blame the rain, impaired visibility and a wet pitch for the first 3 very short innings we had at bat when the Comets got us out each time without allowing us to score any runs. Likewise we will say the rain, impaired visibility and wet pitch continued to have the same effect whilst fielding, allowing the Comets to score 22 runs.

After a short break ‘under the trees’ whilst it was lightning we prepared ourselves for our fourth and final inning as we were told that we need to score at least 2 runs to continue playing!

Top 4th Inning: 22-0

The Mob had a small comeback and we scored 4 runs with the help of a lovely home run by Andy – whoo hooo! Unfortunately our up did not last very long and we were quickly out, and back in the field. After the Comets scored another 3 runs and it was still pouring with rain, the umpire decided to call it a game there…… , oh dear.

Final Score: 25-4 Comets v Mob
