Classic Mob display of frustration and inspiration!

The weather cleared and the Mob took on the Richmond Swingers on a deceptively dry pitch and were quickly into their stride. With a generous strike zone, pitcher Tom quickly found a rhythm and some wicked movement in the evening Richmond air.

A monster home run by Erika set up a big inning for the Mob as we took a significant early lead. Maybe it was complacency setting in, or just early season ineptness, but what followed was not pretty... an 11 run 3rd(?) with ball going through infielder and outfielder alike put the swingers ahead. In addition Tom was doing his best Benny Hill impression chasing a Richmond base-runner around the bases (allowing another to score) whilst 2nd-baseman Greg was helpfully backing up 1st!!

There were a couple of nice defensive plays - a good throw by Martin to get a tag at home and keep in touch late on, and a stunning catch by Steph to save a grand slam as fellow super-sub Paul D was running towards her trying desperately to pull off an impossible play and cause an outfield collision. Fortunately, he only hurt himself!

A solo home-run by Martin gave the Mob hope but we couldn't overcome the 3 run deficit and lost 15-12.

All in all there were flashes of brilliance with the bat and in the field but we couldn't put both together enough of the time.
